SEMS Medical Bike Unit (MBU)
The SEMS Medical Bike Team / Unit (MBU) was the first of its kind in the region. Members utilize bike patrols to provide EMS services during events where access to patients might otherwise be difficult. Events include the Town’s annual Stratford Day and fireworks display. Bike units may also patrol the beach areas at times. Bike patrols respond with first aid equipment, oxygen, and a defibrillator. The Bike Team works as part of the Special Operations Division throughout the year at numerous events.
During the summer of 2013, the MBU patrolled over 100 miles of south Stratford (the beach areas up to Paradise Green)
Bike Team members are trained in the EMS Cyclist Course through the International Police Mountain Bike Association (IPMBA)
