Letter: Health director lauds emergency preparedness volunteers

To the Editor:

As the director of health for the Trumbull Monroe Health District (TMHD), I want to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers who participated in our Emergency Preparedness Drill on June 25. What a wonderful opportunity for all of us to build partnerships, work together and test our town’s emergency preparedness capabilities for incidences relating to public health.

Having served as the health director for the past seven years, I know first-hand the importance of having great volunteers and community partners that you can depend on in a time of need. With their help, TMHD and the Stratford Health Department were able to test their capabilities in distributing medications in a drive-through format to residents using a mock scenario.

Many thanks to the Stratford Health Department, Stratford Police Department, Trumbull Police Department, Stratford Public Works Department, Stratford Board of Education, Stratford Emergency Medical Services, Stratford Emergency Management, Trumbull Emergency Management, Monroe Emergency Management, Monroe Police Department, Stratford-Trumbull-Monroe Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Other MRC Units from CT-Region 1, Stratford Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Monroe CERT, Other CERT Units from CT-Region 1, CT Region 1 Communications Response Team (CRT), Lincoln Tech, Porter & Chester Institute of Technology, and Sacred Heart University. We could not have done it without your help!
