Sterling House Community Center held its annual Touch-A-Truck event for Sterling Park Day Camp on Aug. 6. Campers explored a Stratford fire truck, a Stratford police cruiser, a Police Special Response Team armored vehicle, and a Stratford EMS Ambulance.

Additionally, the Bridgeport Mounted Division and Stratford Police K-9 units were on hand and showed off theirAnd, skills and training. And, Officer Frank Sapione performed a magic show.

A camp-wide raffle concluded the event, with prizes from many local businesses, including Vazzy’s, Paradise Pizza, Lordship Pizza, Bella Napoli and the Star Factory.

The Stratford Police donated six bicycles to Sterling House which were also raffled. “This is a fantastic day for our campers,” says Robert Wargo, Director of Volunteer Services and Co-Camp Director. “We would like to thank everyone who contributed so generously to this exciting day at Sterling Park Camp, especially Officer Alec Voccola for doing an incredible job coordinating the departments and obtaining wonderful prizes for the campers.”
