Stratford EMS-Instructor wins Stratford MEDALS awards

A Stratford Volunteer EMS Association Instructor was awarded “Making Extraordinary Differences And Leading Stratford” (MEDALS) awards from the Youth Committee of the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families.

STRATFORD, CT – A Stratford Volunteer EMS Association Instructor has recognized by the Youth Committee of the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families with MEDALS (Making Extraordinary Differences and Leading Stratford) awards.

Stratford Volunteer EMS Association Instructor / EMT, Stephen Johnson, was recognized in a short ceremony that was held at Town Hall Council Chambers on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 5:00pm. Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families MEDALS (Making Extraordinary Differences and Leading Stratford) Awards are presented to local youth, adults, businesses, and community organizations that have made a positive impact and demonstrate leadership in Stratford.

Stephen received the award for his instruction of Stratford’s youth during the Stratford Volunteer Associations EMT class, mentoring and advising students through their EMS education, balancing multiple responsibilities within the town (dispatch supervisor, chaplain, and EMS Instructor) while maintaining availability for students and offering a positive presence in their lives.  Stephen goes  above and beyond to ensure his students receive the attention and guidance they need.

The Stratford Volunteer EMS Association has had Stephen Johnson as their primary EMS-Instructor since the beginning of last year.  Their EMT courses produce “work ready” EMT’s that are competent, professional EMS providers.  Many eventually become Stratford EMS providers.

The ceremony, put on by the Youth Committee of the Stratford Partnership for Youth and Families, featured an update on some of the accomplishments and projects of the Youth Committee, Grants and Awards.

“I am so proud of our team here at Stratford EMS.  The Stratford Volunteer Associations EMT training courses have absolutely flourished since Stephen began teaching. We are very happy with the work he does for the Association and this award exemplifies the professional standard that the Stratford Volunteer EMS Associations EMT courses provide under Stephen expert tutelage!” said Mike Loiz, Director of EMS for Stratford.
